The Center for Law and Innovation which has a mission of accelerating and facilitating the coexistence between law and innovation for sustainable development.

What issues is your organisation most and proactive about in relation to law and technology?

The Center for Law and Innovation is proactively facilitating a co-existence between law and innovation by researching on predictive and future-proofing legislating and policy making.
We study the emerging technologies and advise on adaptative and forward-looking policy and regulatory solutions.

What has been the most interesting project or activity in tech and law so far, or one which you are most proud of so far?

Training on Data Protection and Privacy Law

What is the greatest challenge you have faced in developing the organisation?

Scaling, Leadership and Management, and Talent Acquisition and Retention

What do you believe are the top challenges facing African lawyers and their clients today, in terms of the fast growing tech sector?

Lack of digital literacy and inability to adapt to new technological innovations. This is largely caused by the sector-resistance in order to avoid disruptive changes which is the only way forward.

How do you think lawyers and other legal services providers can make use of legal tech tools to simplify their operations and add value to their clients and society as a whole?

Lawyers and legal services providers can leverage legal tech tools in numerous ways to streamline their operations, enhance client services, and contribute to the legal ecosystem. Here are some ways they can make use of legal tech tools such as document automation, Case Management and Workflow, Legal Research and Analytics, among others,

What are the top 3 regulatory and legislative changes required to facilitate tech adoption in different sectors on the continent?

While the specific regulatory and legislative changes required to facilitate tech adoption can vary across different sectors in Africa, the most important and urgent ones are: Data Protection and Privacy Laws, Digital Identity and Authentication, and Regulatory Sandboxes and Innovation Frameworks, Payments Regulations.
